Stamford Academy began a formal curriculum review process (in all curricular areas) in the 2010-11 school year. The process includes three stages:
1. Reactions to the current curriculum are collected from administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students.
2. Current research is collected from administrators, faculty, and staff after attendance at professional conferences, reading of professional journals, and visits to other schools.
3. Decisions will be made about revisions, if any, that need to be made with the curricula, and those revisions will be made with final approval from the school’s administrative team.
We referenced the Connecticut State Department of Education, the Common Core State Standards Initiative, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development websites with related documents for its curriculum development.
New administrators, teachers, and staff are oriented in the use of the curricula and its varied components, and continuous professional development is provided to administrators, teachers, and staff to ensure that the curriculum is faithfully implemented.
