We believe that when adults learn, students learn.
Life-long learning is modeled for students as adults participate in a variety of professional development opportunities.
Individualized Supervision- Teachers meet with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction weekly or bi-weekly to receive support and/development. Examples of topics covered during Supervision: Lesson and unit planning, Differentiating, Classroom Management, Building relationships with students, Data-driven decision making, etc.
Instructional Coaching- Stamford Academy employs two instructional coaches to provide embedded professional development to teachers. Types of support provided (including but not limited to): Data Team Facilitation, Creating pre and post CFAs, Analyzing data, Identifying and implementing effective instructional strategies, securing a variety of instructional resources
In addition to monthly district-wide professional development days, in-house staff development is provided every other Friday from 12:00-2:00pm.
Staff members are also encouraged to identify professional development opportunities they feel will contribute to their learning as they work to become masters of their craft. Staff members often take advantage of opportunities at SERC, CES, and at our Domus Training Institute.
